JUANITA LOUIS

About Juanita Louis

Juanita Louis stands 5 feet 9 inches tall, a natural beauty who hails from the nature island of Dominica. Fashion has always been an essential element of her life from a young age. Juanita shared in her mom's creativity by showcasing her mother's one of a kind designs. Though Juanita was shy as a young girl, she blossomed in front of the camera. Her mom nurtured that natural talent by encouraging her participation in local talent shows as a model & scheduling her to attend regular photoshoots. Juanita migrated to New York after she graduated from High School to pursue her college education. Juanita's glowing beauty attracted the eyes of several modeling agencies including one of New York City's top modeling agencies, Wilhelmina. Because of Juanita's passion for helping others & her interest in the human body, a career in medicine also seemed like a natural fit. Juanita had a difficult decision to make since she shared a passion for both medicine & modeling. With the encouragement from her Dad, she decided to pursue her degree in medicine which meant putting her modeling career on hold because of the high demands of her medicine curriculum. Upon completion of her degree in medicine with honors, she refocused her love for fashion which was never far from her heart. She reinvented herself as a model in the fashion industry in NYC. Today her passion is visible & her work is acknowledged in numerous photoshoots & runway shows. Juanita shows immense dedication in all she does, whether it's in medicine or modeling. She epitomizes the true meaning of never giving up on your dreams. Juanita believes that no goal is unattainable as long as you demonstrate hard-work, dedication & perseverance. She also founded Marvo's Movement in January 2018 which is a non for profit organization which supplies food, clothing & medical supplies to the island of Dominica. This organization was started after witnessing the horrific devastation of Hurricane Maria on Dominica. She wanted to give back & what initially started as a food & supply drive has now turned into an organization that helps families in need. The name was inspired by Juanita's mother Marvlyn Joseph-Williams, whom she lost in 2014 to cancer. It was Juanita's way of paying tribute to her mother who played such an important role in her life.
